The Astronomical Clock was built in the early 15th century by Nicolas of
Kadan and later completed by Hanus a famous clock maker. It draws in
huge crowds every hour just before the hour. You can then witness one
of the most magical and slightly humorous show you have ever seen from
a town clock. The clock is situated on the Old town hall in the Old
Town Square (Stare Mesto) and was heavily damaged in the May uprising in
1945. It was repaired again in 1948 by V. Sucharda in which new statues
of the apostles were created.
