Napa. Sonoma. These names are synonmous with "wine", for they have the
reputation for making the best wine in the world. But here in the
region, these towns are known for much more than just wine. They are
also known for other cultural aspects, such as "tourism." But that's not
to say that these towns don't deserve their stellar reputation for wine.
Yes, they make good wine here because, well, they add secret ingredients
like (shhhh!) alcohol. Don't tell anyone! That could ruin it for
them.. Look how cough syrup got a bad reputation when it was discovered
that it's mostly made of alcohol. But believe it or not, alcohol is what
makes wine so much better than, say, grape juice. Oh, it may not taste as
good as Welch's fine grape aidas any five-year-old. But, a good
Merlot goes much better with a good pasta dish at a fancy-shmancy Italian
restaurant than NyQuil cough syrup any day of the week. (Unless you've
got a cough.) (Or, unless you're five.)
