Flowing Fog Marin County, California (California, USA)
|
On California's Marin Headlands, facing away from the Golden Gate Bridge, the August heat hits the cool air from the Ocean, creating a very thick fog that tends to sit low on the ground. The temperature difference also creates wind, pushing the fog like a ribbon in a fan. A long exposure can make it all look like flowing cream. Here, a 20 second exposure with a Tamron 28-105mm f2.8 (@50mm) a half hour after sunset gives the desired flowing effect from the fog, while still capturing detail in the hills. Velvia slide film helps retain the nice color on the horizon. The meter reading was taken directly from the Canon EOS A2 camera body.
