EXIF Data
Image Description: | This canyon ship was set off on February 1874 and is one of the oldest Argentinean war ships still sailing. It performed several hydrographical campaigns and served as scholl boat of the Argentinean Navy. The Corbeta Uruguay has entered Argentinean and world history, for having rescued in 1903 the cast aways of the Swedish scientifical expedition, commanded by Otto Nordenskjöld. The mission was directed by Lieutenant Julián Irízar. Made in Great Britain in the Laird Brothers Shipyards, it still keeps most of the original furniture. In 1967 it was declared National Historical Monument. |
